Its been a beautiful spring-like day here in Downhill, and we are more than ready to see it! We reopened at the beginning of the month after significant painting work in the house during January.
The Downhill beach was full of life all day as people took advantage of the weather to reacquaint themselves with all the little changes in the beach after the winter storms. The Drumagully stream which runs from the Downhill forest down alongside our house is flowing out wide over a rocky bed into the sea.
The Mussenden Temple, the famous library from which the Earl Bishop thought it so pleasant to watch storms at sea presided over flat turquoise ripples all day.
And anyone who has lived in Northern Ireland knows the joy of the first days when you can air the laundry outside! We spend a lot of time doing laundry and appreciate standing in the sunshine to peg out duvets then folding them in smelling fresh as a day by the sea.
