August 1st saw our first hosting of the Na cúnna traditional folk music session in Downhill. It was a magical evening drawing traditional musicians from Coleraine to Ballykelly. Thank you to Brian McNichol and the Shamrock Rose and Thistle Committee for organizing the evening and for the fabulous cake! And thank you to McCall’s rock-star girlfriends for all the catering and tidying help, you are fabulous as always. Traditional Irish musicians playing on the night included ( in no particular order): Gerrard McCloskey, Tommy McAleer, Shane McAteer, Seamus O’Kane, Joe Diamond, Yvonne Devlin, Declan Devlin, Caimih Cooke, John James Kelly, Michael Dougherty, Danny Osbourne, Cahil McCann, Tommy Dunn, Connor Pauling, ‘young’ McGonigal, and Paul McLoughlin. I know I have missed some names and possibly misspelled others, please feel free to make corrections in the comments!

Many hands make light work…thank you to our friends and neighbours who helped us host! The next evening hosted here will be on Sunday evening the 18th of September at the close of the Eddie Butcher festival following Seamus O’Kane’s harp workshop in Mussenden Temple. Please phone for any accommodation bookings on this night, we are taking bookings only by telephone, not internet for this evening. All welcome!
