A rare snowy owl has been visiting in area. According to the contributors at nibirds.blogspot.com The Snowy Owl was last sighted in Northern Ireland 7 years ago at Longford Point, the species has been sighted only 3 times in Northern Ireland in the last 50 years. We have a guest staying tonight who has come in hope of getting photographs tomorrow. The bird, apparently a first winter male has been hunting around the Altikeeragh hills, a couple of minutes drive from the hostel by our son’s school. Here are some photographs submitted to the Northern Ireland Birdwatchers Association the last couple of days:
