The Giant’s Causeway is one of Northern Ireland’s biggest attractions. In the summertime it does get very very busy which can make it hard to fully appreciate. There are alternative ways the local’s know to enjoy the causeway walk even in the height of summer on the North Coast. One of the most obvious is go after the visitor center closes at 9pm and enjoy the sunset.

Irish summer evenings are light until nearly 11pm. After 9pm when the visitor centre closes the Giant’s Causeway carpark is empty and free. Big tour companies are never going to bring tourists at night, so its just a small handful of locals and savvy independent travellers enjoying the evening light over the Causeway stones.
