Public transportation is excellent in this area, providing foot-bound travellers and day-trippers alike with easy and practical transportation to and from most every Irish destination. Public transportation becomes even more attractive when visiting the Giant's Causeway, Coleraine Town Centre and many other stopping points as you consider that you will pay to park your car every time, but one bus ticket will allow you to step on and off along the whole coast as you please.

You can click the timetables to go to the official page source, where you will find weekend and holliday travel times. You can access an excellent Journey Planner here, or go straight to the Translink Homepage. If you are looking for a timetable not on this page, click here for the Timetables main directory.

Travel to the hostel from Belfast or L'Derry is often easiest by train. Here are the timetables for Northern Ireland Rail route #3, which goes through Coleraine and Castlerock between Belfast and L'Derry.

Coleraine Bus / Rail Station is a well organised central location for much of the public transportation in the area. Bus Service #134 easily connects the Downhill Hostel to Coleraine Bus / Rail Station and Limavady Bus Station, with several stops between. Here are the timetables for UlsterBus Route #134. Use this as a connection to any of the Coleraine-based bus routes that service Bushmills, Dunlice, the Giant's Causeway, and everywhere else!

If you need to get between Castlerock and Downhill outside of the Bus's scheduled hours, there are taxis that make the run for £3 per trip. The drivers are well acquainted with the hostel, and are an excellent resource in the evenings and on the occasional rainy day.
