The centre is the result of years of dedicated work by the Castlerock Community Association in an ongoing regeneration project for the village. James Nesbitt’s family home remains in the village. The actor and his father are 2 of many individuals and bodies who have supported the regeneration project.

James Nesbitt is to return to filming for ‘The Hobbit’ in New Zealand at the end of the month. He received a painting of Castlerock village by local artist Gerald Maguire and a signed copy of the new book of the patron of Downhill, ‘The Earl Bishop’ by lecturer and broadcaster Stephen Price. Apparently there might have been one or two other things Jimmy was in the area to attend to, but as far as we in ‘the rock’ are concerned, he was flown in here just for the village’s big day. Quite sweet really. I last saw him when he was filming an episode of the TV show ‘Cold Feet’ on the beach in front of the hostel. He is really is lovely about bringing publicity to his home area!
